About Photocraft

Photocraft is a relaxed, friendly place to enjoy photography with others. Whether you’re picking up a camera for the first time, getting back into a hobby, or already confident with your skills, you’ll find a warm welcome here. We learn together, try new ideas, and enjoy photography in a supportive, down-to-earth community.

Where We Meet

Photocraft now meets at St Patrick’s Centre in Wallington, our new and welcoming home for in-person evenings. We meet on Wednesdays at 8pm, with doors opening at 7.45pm so there’s time to settle in and chat before we start.

We meet in person on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, and also on the 5th Wednesday whenever a month has one. On the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays, we meet on Zoom, which keeps things flexible and makes it easy for everyone to stay involved.

Our main season runs from September to June, but we like to keep the momentum going in the summer. When the evenings are lighter, we often head out for relaxed photo walks and informal meet-ups.

Our Committee

Photocraft operates with charitable status, and our trustees also serve as the club’s committee. They help guide the club, support our members, and make sure everything runs smoothly throughout the year.

Our committee includes a Chairman, Club Secretary, Treasurer, and Programme Secretary, along with several other members who look after different parts of the club’s activities.

Everyone on the committee is a volunteer and an active member of the club. Their shared aim is to keep Photocraft friendly, welcoming, and enjoyable for photographers of all levels.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you welcome beginners?

Yes. Photocraft is open to everyone, and many members started out with little or no experience. If you’re curious about photography and keen to learn, you’ll find friendly support, encouragement, and lots of practical help.

Do I need to attend every week?

Come along whenever it works for you. Our programme includes speakers, practical evenings, relaxed member nights, and some light-hearted competitions. There’s no pressure to attend every session.

How long does membership last?

Your membership runs for 12 months from the day you join. We’ll send you reminders before it’s time to renew.

Can I try a meeting before joining?

Yes. You’re welcome to visit for up to three Wednesday evenings before deciding. If you let our membership secretary know you’re coming, we’ll make sure someone is there to greet you and introduce you to a few friendly faces.

When you decide to join, we’ll ask you to complete a short form so we can get to know you a little better.

Are there any age restrictions?

If you’re under 18, you’ll need to attend with an adult.

Do I need an expensive camera?

No. You can take part using any camera, including a smartphone. Many members create wonderful images with simple gear. If you’re thinking about buying something new or second-hand, there’s always someone happy to share their experience.
